More from Palau!

Hi,
yep, I liked Palau so much I went back there this summer. Fish 'n Fins had a 15% summer discount on the Ocean Hunter 3 which helped me to persuade myself it's not really that expensive (Note: it is!).

Anyway, here's a 10 min. clip of the highlights:

I have about 45 minutes of useable footage of grey reef sharks, so I had to be pretty savage with the cutting. On a dive at Blue Corner for example, you can hang there watching loads of them pass by for virtually the whole dive, which is just brilliant. However, when it comes to the actual video clip I think that you can have too much of a good thing.

Enjoy!

Cheers,
Matthew

Fantastic Matthew !! Glad to hear a report on Palau, as we leave 10/17 - 11/3/10 and are staying at the Pacific Palau. Can't wait to get there and do some great diving !! Any other info on Palau would be great before our trip, if you get the time.

Michael

Hi Michael,
lucky you! you're in for a great trip.  I think the hotel you're staying in is the Palau Pacific Resort, right? Well, it's supposed to be one of the best there, and I can see why it has the reputation it does -  although I've only ever stayed there as a day guest. Really nice rooms, beach and some good snorkelling. I like the restaurant and overall service too.
Diving - inshore wrecks can have quite low visibility, but they're interesting if you're into that sort of thing. Jake seaplane was my favourite wreck. Try and dive Blue Corner, Ulong Channel and German Channel as many times as you can - they're seriously world class sites. I can really recommend Fish 'n Fins, but I haven't tried any of the other operators.
You will definitely need a reef hook!
Cheers,
Matthew

Nice video.  Really enjoyed watching the shark swim around all those folks who were tied on for dear life.  I wonder if he was saying, "They tell me they all taste like chicken!"
