FYI

The TTL adapter has broken off of my PT-020.  Upon review by Olympus, their only advice is to buy a brand new PT-020.  They will not sell parts for this housing.  Anyone have any suggestions?  Please help

Hi MD, welcome to the forum.... save it for parts for when something else breaks off of the replacement.

This is why these housings are considered 'throw-aways'. Use 'em 'til they break, then buy another one.

What if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?

We discontinued the sale of the entire PT housing line not long ago because of these types of problems with the PT-020 and PT-023.

The Sync Cord Cap will corrode into place, breaking something when you try to remove it.  The flimsy port latches can also snap off underwater, causing floods.

While Olympus had a great run, Sony, Canon, Fuji, and Nikon are producing much more practical housings that just make sense and don't try to do too much...

Does anybody think that this is a maintenance issue? (or lack of it?)  and rough handling?

Granted that the the PT 020 is a "fragile" one, there are still a lot of PT housings out there in use.... I see the Matthias and Mikedive refurbish some housings to ddress some of the weak points of the housing....

How about alternatives? is anyone else besides ikelite and L&M make a casing for the Oly C5060? Does ikelite make a housing WITHOUT the TTL circuitry?

No, but Ikelite's TTL Housing costs no more than its non-ttl housing did...

Hi Guys,
I am Mikedive from Germany an I do some things to get the PT20 housings better .

First I build a plug to combine the housing to all Sea and Sea strobes by using Matthias Oly TTL-C Converter.

Then, after the first housings lost the ports, I changed the PC lugs to V2A steel ones . The old lugs are milled out and a M4 threaded little pin is skrewed and glued in the wholes this gives better strongnes for mounting a Inon UWL 100 with Domeport to the PT20 . At my last trip to Egypt I have to Jump into the water because we do some drift dives ...... so I fall backside first, holding the PT20 with the Inon Port and with a Ys300 strobe in front of me with only one hand ....... and no problems .

Now I have a solution for the weak bulkhead I build a anodised aluminium socket with the Nikonos V specification for changeing without any changes to the housing just use a wrench put the old one out and the new one in, this is a perfekt solution with the Oly-TTL-C converter of Matthias. The sealing of the new one is a double sealing in the whole and at the housing and it is also mountable to the PT22, PT23, with some changes also to PT15 and PT10 or the PT18 or all othe housings with a wall up to 10 mm and a plane surface at about 20 mm in diameter and you need a 11 mm whole that is all. The socket is filled up with epoxi resin so no chance to a flooding through the plug connecton if the sealing is weak.

This solution also works with the Ikelite strobes ( DS125 / DS50(new) ), The Subtronic mini TTL and the Inon Z220  by using a Nikonos TTL cord.

Thank you for the update Hr. Finger.

Now i just wish there was an easy (and CHEAP) way to get your services done to my housing....

Perhaps it would be useful to post a link to your website. (The babelfish translation gave me a few laughs)
