Sony NEX-7 and Nauticam

Got the NEX-7 a couple days ago and the Nauticam from Reef a couple weeks ago.  I think I'm going to like the camera and I know I'm going to like the housing.  Can't wait to try it out, but it won't be until the Reef Photo trip to Bonaire in May.
Barbara wil also be using her NEX-5n and upgraded Nauticam housing on the same trip.

Still shooting dual INON 240 strobes but now with optical cables.  It'll be interesting to see how the ttl works for us.

I also have the Nauticam NA-NEX-7 housing sitting on my desk waiting for a camera. I will be starting off with the 30mm macro lens and port. I plan to add the Nauticam 45 degree optical finder for the OLED, EVF when it is shipped. I really like the Tri-nav controls for F/stop and shutter speed at the top of the housing and ISO on the command wheel.

I must have missed the news of the 45 degree optical finder.  Are we talking about a magnifier and can it be retrofitted?

I have found the 30mm macro lens to hunt a lot.

Hi Ted,

Not sure the news has been released by NauticanUSA regarding the replacement plastic back.

It is in this thread, the second post has a photo at a tradeshow of the new back.

Does it look like the whole plastic window will be removed or just a circular port?

I have attached photos of a side by side view of the NEX-7 housings with the 45 degree finder and the stock pickup finder.

Also see the attached Nauticam link for new 45 viewfinder info.

Housing modification is complete, just waiting for the viewfinder itself that's backordered from Reef!

I am waiting for mine as well. Chris Parsons let me use his for the photos and post. Took it to tHe BHB for some macro/close-up with the 30 macro and it was awesome compared to the pickup finder. I know this not an option that everyone will want to she'll out for but if you love the viewfinder over the LCD this is money very well spent.

Should be getting the viewfinder on Monday.  In plenty of time for the Reef Photo trip to Bonaire.
I doubt that I will ever get used to the LCD.

I ordered my Nex7 system from Reef first week in January, 3 lenses, 3 lens adapters, 4 lens ports, camera and Nauti housing.

Received housing, 2 lenses, 2 lens adapters (but not the lens they attach to), 4 lens ports and housing in January, no camera.

Received Camera in late March.  Camera control wheels don't interact with control wheels on housing, contacted Nauticam, they said return the Housing, I did.

Sent Reef an e-mail saying I returned the housing and why.

Reef replied, saying I should have sent the camera also because it is not unusual for the housing to need adjusting to the camera.  Why didn't Nauti ask for the camera? Why did Reef send a housing ten weeks before they had a camera to send me?  I then e-mailed Nauti back, they agreed, said they tested it with their camera and it works, send them my camera. I did that today (April 26).

I've spent almost $100 in shipping to fix my new stuff, still don't have the lens needed for the lens adapters.

I'm hoping I can actually have a complete working system before the camera is obsolete.

In the just released UWPMAG.com I have done a review of the Sony/Ziess 24mm for underwater use in the Nauticam NA-NEX7 housing. The big downside to the NEX systems in general is a lack of quality E-mount lenses. This lens is by far the best offering to date. It is very fast focusing underwater and can focus very close to the subject. A wide range of subjects can also be covered.
