About the photographers code of conduct.....Who makes the decision of what is a violation, and what are the sanctions? The reason I ask, I am a person who will sit still for a long time to get critters comfortable with my presence. Sometimes, the critter in question becomes so curious about me they will come and interact with me to the point of being VERY personal. I once had an octopus sit on my arm as he explored every inch of me with his tentacles. He even let me stroke him, seeming to enjoy it, flushing a pleasurable blue color. Would someone take a picture of this and have others claim I was "harrassing" the wildlife? He initiated the interaction. I have many such stories. How about stumbling on a cuttlefish who won't leave a nest area. She will threat display at you even though you are at a distance and are posing no threat. Taking a pic before you leave (hey, you're already there) would have people cry "harrass"?
So explain how and who will operate any decisions?
To improve the board , how about updating the travel area so that you don't have to scroll through all the pacific area to find the one or two posts on PNG? I hate to say it, but more the way that Scubaboard does their travel forum. OUCH!! Don't get mad at the comparison.

One of the reasons the "Code of Conduct" is not done yet is that I feel it is important to not "alienate: anyone in the presentation of the rules.
We have the input, and it is just a matter of me "playing editor" to present the INFORMATION in a way that is not demeaning, etc.
OK, the other reason it is not done is that i have been swamped, and have not had time to finish it and present it to Tio.
I do think we should clarify one thing. These are going to be presented as suggestions for the uninformed. These are not "laws" to be enforced.
I quite like your examples, as if you want to interact, this is the way to do it. Personally, I love the encounters you describe, and would happily endure them myself.
Then again, there is always the possibility that someone will not agree, and say that we should have swam away... each to his own.
BTW, the opinions presented above are mine alone and are not necessarily shared by the DDN management and/or its members!

well, we do have it, but the extent of its usefulness is debatable.
On the left side of each post is the users name, status, etc. If you click on the Member Profile link, it will take you to detailed info on the member. In this area is an equipment list for said user.
IF the member filled it in, the equipment is listed.
IF it has been updated. Otherwise the info my be outdated.
Regardless of the method used (we have tried a few), the info is only as good as that supplied by the user anyway, and updates get "forgotten" often.
This actually causes the signature line to be the best methodology, as it is always seen, and therefore updates are more frequent.
