I am not an expert at lighting, but I know what looks good, and the illumination looks very good to me.
If you wanted the background darker, you could use a smaller aperture, but I don't think the background is too light as it is. Nothing blown out, which is hard to do.
This a nice photo, that could be easily tweaked in photoshop or lightroom. I don't think it could be much better than it is, straight out of camera.

I think it is a great picture.
You could do this or that post production but it looks very natural the way it is.
We have to realize that underwater you are not shooting in a studio and have the luxury of placing strobes and placing the subject etc.,you did an amazing job of capturing the subj
In my opinion I would leave it the way it is.

Stobe placement and lighting help set the stage for the story you are telling with your image. To me the stobe placement and lighting in this image make it look dramatic. I like it.
You could tweek the levels for the foreground, but I like it the way it is.
