Entries were requested in three categories, Macro, Fish Portrait, and Wide Angle. Entries were judged on technical criteria such as focus and exposure, as well as subjective factors like composition, framing and Wow factor. Each judge selected ten photos in each category and points were awarded based on their choices. Photos were identified only by a generic file ID and were not linked to the photographer. I held the key linking the file name to the photographer until judging was complete.

Points for each photographer were then compiled and ranked.

• The photographer with the highest score is the Grand Prize winner, and chooses a prize from the pool of prizes.
• From the remaining photographers the photographer with the highest number of points from week one, and the top point earner from week two are declared the weekly Grand Prize winners, and make the next two selections, again ranked by their total points.
• Finally the two weeks are combined again, and the next highest score chooses from the remaining prizes until the pool is exhausted. Photographers with tie scores guess a random number between 1 and 100 to determine precedence in selecting prizes from the pool.
